Step by Step

How Cerebro Scan Works

Full transparency — here's exactly what happens when you plug in the USB stick.

1
🔌Plug in the USB stick

Insert Cerebro Scan into any free USB port on your computer. It has both USB-A and USB-C connectors on a rotating head — flip it to whichever type your computer has. No adapter needed. It mounts as an external drive called CEREBROSCAN.

2
🖱️Double-click the launcher for your platform

On Mac: double-click Apple.command. On Windows: double-click Windows.exe. Nothing is installed on the computer — the launcher runs entirely from the USB stick. First-time Windows users may see a brief security prompt — click "More info" then "Run anyway".

3
⚙️A local web server starts on your computer

The launcher starts a small web server at http://127.0.0.1:7760 — running entirely on your own machine. This is how the dashboard communicates with your hardware. No data is sent to the internet, and no internet connection is needed for the diagnostics.

4
🌐Your browser opens the dashboard automatically

Chrome (or your default browser) opens automatically at http://127.0.0.1:7760 showing the full Cerebro Scan diagnostic dashboard. You'll see all 20 tabs start loading immediately. Data appears within 1–2 seconds.

5
📊Browse 20 tabs of live diagnostic data

Once loaded, the dashboard updates every 3 seconds. Browse through Overview, Simple View, Processor, Memory, Storage, Network, Processes, Security, GPU, Battery, Speed Test, Recommendations, Network Scan, Large Files, Ping Test, Temperature, Wi-Fi Passwords, Phone/Tablet View, Spec Export and Report.

6
💬Read the Simple View summary

Click the "Simple View" tab for a Simple View explanation of your computer's health. No technical knowledge needed — it tells you exactly what's happening, what's slowing things down, and what to do about it.

7
📋Generate and save a report

Click "Generate and Save Report" on the Report tab. An HTML file is saved to the Reports folder on the USB stick, named with your computer name and the date. Open it in any browser, print it to PDF, or take it to a technician.

8
Eject cleanly with one click

When you're done, click the ⏏ Eject button in the top-right of the dashboard. This closes the server and ejects the USB automatically — no "drive is in use" errors. Alternatively close the browser tab and unplug. Nothing is left on the computer.

🛡️

100% Read-Only

Cerebro Scan never writes, modifies, deletes or changes anything on the computer it's plugged into. It only reads data from your hardware to display in the dashboard.
